SENSOR INTEGRATION THERAPY

Sensory integration therapy aims to help kids with sensory processing issues by exposing them to sensory stimulation in a structured, repetitive way. The theory behind it is that over time, the brain will adapt and allow kids to process and react to sensations more efficiently.

Sensory integration (SI) therapy should be provided by a specially trained occupational therapist (OT). At Sparsh Special School, Hyderabad our therapist determinessensory processing Disorder through a sensory profile evaluation then creates an extensive “sensory diet” treatment. It includes stimulation (e.g. proprioceptive, vestibular etc.), balance treatments, movement therapy and structured exposure to sensory input. These physical activities and accommodations are carefully designed and tailored according to the child.The routine of activities in a sensory diet fits child’s exact needs and schedule.
